If you’re not interested in getting notifications about a specific chat, you can opt-out of chat messages for that chat by visiting the chat info page.
- Open the chat you'd like to mute notifications for
- Tap the "..." on the top right
- Scroll down towards the bottom of the list and toggle "Notifications" off
